My mom does this little thing..always has..and it annoys me so bad. She always has to look at what i'm wearing and say something about it. Nothing bad and not always a compliment but just something like "where did u get that top" or "i've never seen those pants before". It just annoys me and she'll just stare me up and down like when I go downstairs from getting dressed in the morning. Even if I just go sit down she'll be sitting there staring at me. I wish I could just put on clothes and not have her always say something..like there just clothes! Does everyones mom's do this or am I the only one?
oh yeah and even if I put on pajamas at night and go downstairs with the family she'll still stare at me and ask me about them..i'm 17 by the way.
Answers:
1. I am a mom and I do not ask my teenage daughter however if she ever gave me a reason (i.e. stealing, etc.) then I would ask.
2. Haha you are NOT ALONE! My mother comments on EVERYTHING. One day i had a ring on..and she goes "oh where did you get that?" and i'll tell her..and then a few days later...its the same thing..."oh where did you get that ring?" ...she must have asked me about that ring 20 times already..i just quit wearing it! Drives me nuts lol
3. I kinda get the impression that your mom is trying to make converstation with you and because she doesnt know what else to talk to you about, shes talking about clothes.
Next time she says something, ask her for her opinion, or does she like the new top or whatever. Get her invoved and she'll probably feel better about being involved somewhat in your busy teenaged years.
You wont feel like a stranger to her anymore.
4. I am a mother of a 19year old daughter. She is away from home now. But the only time I would say something is if it look to tight, or to short. You mother needs to realize by saying something every time she is making you self conscious. You need to have a talk with her. Or maybe another family member. Ask them what would be the best way to approach her without hurting her feelings.
5. I am a mom myself and I have an 18 and 19 year old kids. There's nothing wrong with your mom. She's just being well shall we say a cool mom. He,he,he. Don't mind her and show her you appreciate what she's doing.
6. My mother does it too sometimes and I'll probably do it to my daughter...
I know its aggravating, but I think they do it because they love us and they enjoy watching us make the transition from girl to teenager to young woman. Its almost like watching a mini-them growing up again. Just smile on the inside and be glad you have a mother that cares.
