A question for the Army Wives.?

my husband is an E3 stationed in yongsan korea. we got married in july and he has already filed that he is married but so far he has not received the back pay for being married. also, we have planned for me to go over there in november but he said that somehow the paperwork that he filed so i could come, some of it was lost while processing. how long does it actually take to process the papers so i can go over there? and is that actually possible for the army to lose paperwork? i mean it is the army? from what i know, it's been a couple months now, why is it taking so long. should i be worried?

Answers:

1. anything is possible just becos we live in a smaller world nowaday that does not mean there is not "human errror" be patient, know you are anxious to join him..

2. My husband is a Marine, but they're all the same with paperwork. If his superiors are idiots, then YES its very common for lost paperwork. It could be a while, just be patient.

3. I took forever and a day for us to get any backpay and when we finally did it wasn't the correct amount.. They ended up giving us less than what it was suppose to be. Anyhow, the military likes to sit on things like that for months. And they do lose paperwork all of the time. Be prepared to have to resubmiteverything several times before it is "right" and complete and done properly by them. Hopefully, everything will be alright for you guys.

4. My husband was in the Marines. If it has anything to do with the government its gonna take forever. It always does. Good Luck though!

5. What you NEED to do is call his commander to see if he is telling the truth. It only took my husband a couple months if that to get the back pay for being married. How long were you guys together before you married?? I hope he isnt trying to get paid more money. CALL HIS COMMANDER!!! You can get it straight yourself. Also, can you even go to korea with him?? Anyway...you need to get in touch with his chain of command. Are you being taken care of? Getting money from him, have a place to live paid for by the army?? I have a lot of knowledge on this if you feel like emailing me.

6. it takes forever for the army to process paperwork. Don't worry about it being lost....just let your husband know that he needs to get onto his NCO about processing his documentation....welcome to the life of an army spouse...be patient..very patient with the army...if not you will find yourself going mentally insane! :)
