okay, so I live in Hawaii and my family really doesn't like it here and we wanna go back to the mainland but we haven't been there since we moved (except my mom who visited our hometown a couple months ago). Now my 8th grade class is having a field trip to New York City/D.C. and my mom really wants to chaporone (however you're supposed to spell it). The problem is...my mom is extremely overprotective and emotional and kinda clingy. I don't think any of us will have a good time if she's there. I don't want her to come...and besides, I'm the only person in my clss who hasn't been away from home for more than a day and it would be really fun to explore New York by myself. Is this selfish? If not, how should I tell her that I want her to stay home? She seems like she doesn't care if I want her to come or not. My dad on the other hand has asked me about 3 times if I'm sure I want her to come but I said yes every time (stupid me). Help?
