3. well first of all if she doesnt like you just because your not popular what does that say about her?.... anyway be up front with her, respectful, but forward you definately dont want to stay on that infamous friend train. show her how sweet and fun you guys could be together. get her mind off her ex! =)
4. Either she looks at you as just a friend, or she is self centered and will not date someone whom is not in the same popularity bracket as her, which she is not even worth your time if that is the case.
I would ask her out for a date, just to dinner. If she seems reserved about the idea then tell her that it would be just as friends. Then maybe she can get to know you, and get the feel for what it would be like to be with you in that way and maybe reconsider. I would tell her on the date, if it comes up, that you know that she still has feelings for her ex, but you think that she deserves to be treated better then that. That you really like her, but if she wants to keep it as just friends that you will understand. You are "here for her if she wants to talk" (girls love to hear that stuff! ~but you have to accually mean it!)
If she says that she just wants to be friends, don't push the issue, you will just freak out and may even lose that..
