Did you know when your boyfriend was going to propose?

Was it a complete surprise? Or did you have an idea? Or was it more planned? Just Curious.

Answers:

1. actually, I had no clue till he came home having forgotten everything, and THEN all his friends told me he had planned to before the war.

2. I knew but only coz I was planning on asking him first, but didnt in the end, and then he asked me.

3. I knew that my boyfriend had the ring. It was around my birthday so I figured he was going to give it to me/ask me for my birthday. I was right!!! May 08 is the big day.

4. An idea, planned & surprised?!!!! I say this because when my man proposed to me, I was 3 months pregnant with our 1st child ... and I guess I kinda knew that it was coming as we talked about it, ya know the whole having kids and marriage bit, just didn't think it would be so soon at the time. That was in 1999 though and I was 19 then. We are still together (married a lil over 7 yrs) and I'm pregnant with our 3rd!!

5. No it wasn't a surprise. I knew that he was going to propose. I didn't think I was going to get a ring though but he surprised me with a beautiful one.

6. I absolutely knew. We had been talking about it for months in the abstract and we are a long distance relationship currently. So over the phone he asked me the first time. The next time I visited him, he had brought the ring I showed him I liked and took me out and formally proposed to me. It was sweet and romantic. But I so saw it coming.

7. He proposed on our cruise ship Aug 2006. Before we actually got to packing and everything, I kinda thought "maybe he'll propose" then thought "Nah, he won't". Our third night on board, it was formal night, so we got all dressed up, and he was patting his pockets and asking me if I had everything. I remember thinking "is he ok? Why is he patting his pockets like crazy? ARE we forgetting anything??" RIGHT before he bent on one knee I had this fleeting thought of "o m g he's going to ASK ME!!!!"... Then he asked! It was a surprise!!! I had thrown my fleeting thought before we left for the cruise out of my head!

8. I had no idea. It was valentines day and I thought we were just going to spend a quiet evening at home. Nope, right after work he tells me to get dressed up because he made reservations. I was a little surprised and went along. He took me to my favorite restaurant. It was a bit crowded and we got seated next to the door. I was so cold because it kept opening and there was a draft. He had me come sit next to him and held my hand under the table while he slipped the ring on my finger. It was so cute and romantic I just kept crying, even once we got home. It turns out he even asked my mom's permission before we went to dinner. She called me first thing the next morning to hear all about it. :) It's such a special moment for me.

9. Yes. That is, although I wasn't expecting it as such (we had only been going out for 4 months), for some reason when he looked round I just knew that he was going to propose in the next sentence. And I was right! We were leaning on a fence at a harbour watching people and boats go by in mid-January, so it wasn't an especially romantic occasion either. Afterwards he was really embarassed that I had guessed, though goodness knows why he should have been. Anyway we have been maried nearly four years now and have two beautiful children.

10. I knew he would and I had predicted it to a tee. We hadn't seen eachother in 4 months because I was studying abroad, and I knew he wanted to propose to me within the next couple of months. I figured he'd propose to me new year's at midnight, it seemed like him and predictable, considering the timing. I just didn't expect a ring (since we're not terribly big on tradition or on money), but it surprised me to get a family heirloom :) I even got him an engagement ring for the night with a special engraving :)

11. Yes, we had picked the design of my ring and where - same restaurant as we had our first date at. He was dead set on a certain date, and een though he was majorly tired after work, the jeweler didn't have my ring finished so gave him a substitute, all because he had gotten a sterling sliver 'goblet' already engraved with "Marry Me?" and the date on it. It was one of those that breaks in to 2 pieces of a heart, so for our wedding I used the same goblet and on the other side engraved "I Do" with our wedding date.

12. We shopped for the ring together and he told me when he bought it. I was fine my thought is this is going to be the first big financial commitment together figure it out together. We did still make the night we got engaged special, went out for a nice dinner and he did choose the spot to make it memorable for me.

13. I knew he didn't have to tell me, I just knew, of course I acted suprised..lol

14. I actually proposed to him, then he took 6 months to think about it before we announced it.

15. my hubby proposed in an airport in front of a bunch of people. Shocked me!

16. Mine was a complete surprise. We were celebrating Christmas with his side of the family and his birthday was the next day so my family came up too. I didn't give it a second thought, but I should have known better, my whole family didn't even come up for my birthday :)

17. I had the feeling that my boyfriend was going to propose for my birthday, but my birthday came and went with no ring. I had set myself up big time for disappointment and basically spent the next morning pouting around the house. He came back from running some errands, and still pouting like a little baby, I said I was going to take a nap rather than sit and watch TV with him. I was just drifting off to sleep, when he came and got in bed with me and slid the ring on my finger. He explained that he had wanted to propose on my birthday, but he wanted to ask my father's permission, and he hadn't been able to get in touch with him in time, so he had to wait until the next day. Needless to say, I was embarrassed that I had pouted so much, and he is still teasing me about it.

18. he actually proposed a week before the wedding. :) We talked about getting married, picked the date and had a large wedding planned already. The problem was I wanted a wide diamond wedding band and not the traditional engagement ring and band. He didn't know how to "officially" propose without an engagement ring so he opted for diamond engagement ear"rings" at my surprise. It definalty helped me decide what earrings to wear w/ my dress.

19. Mine was completely unplanned for both of us! He paid for my ticket back to Ohio to attend my best friend's wedding, and he accompanied me. This was the first time I had been back to Ohio since I was a kid, and he was the first person I ever got to introduce to my best friend. The day after her wedding, we were at her house alone, because everyone had to fly back to where they came from and go to church etc. We weren't leaving until the next day, so I got to show him around the town I grew up in, and the woods where I played. It was pouring rain out, so we were inside playing games, and after beating him at a game of pool, I decided to kick off my shoes and socks and roll up my jeans and run outside in the rain in the woods behind my BFF's house. I was about to leap across the stream, but for some reason he had followed me looking at me like I was crazy, and then took my hand and *ALMOST* got down on one knee and proposed. (the grass had about 4" of standing water) Later he said he thought about it for three seconds, then did it. I didn't get a ring until a month later, and he presented it to me one rainy night back home in California parked on a cliff overlooking the beach when the red tide was making the waves splash like lightning. Two years later, we're still happily engaged and planning our wedding.

20. I didn't know when, but I knew it was coming. We talked about marriage, our future together, and did some planning beforehand so it was only a matter of time for it to be "official". I thought it would be nice to keep it a surprise.

21. I know the exact day he is going to propose, we have discussed in hypotheticals for months, and the day he will propose is a special date night (late celebration of 4 year anniversary) we are going to have in the town we plan to move to after we graduate college in May. I even know 90% sure what ring he is going to give me. Some people think it's suppose to be a big suprise but i'm just super excited to know when b/c i've been waiting for 4 years!
