What does it mean if a guy is a loose cannon?

2. here's a good version of it. A wild one. Someone who does not conform to the rest of society. A maverick. A guy who plays by his own rules and to hell with the consequences. Shows you what he can do. no heres the bad version of it too an individual who has little to no self control, does not think logically,whose grasp on reality is feeble. a seemingly misunderstood person who is in fact a walking disaster waiting to happen.

3. A loose cannon in general is a person whose emotions are unpredictable. They can say or do inappropriate things without thinking. People never know what to expect of them, and feel tense and on edge around them for that reason. Yes, they should be avoided in a relationship- unless you enjoy frayed nerves all the time.

4. WHEN PEOPLE USE THAT EXPRESSION "GUY IS A LOOSE CANNON" WHAT IT MEANS THAT THE GUY IS EMOTIONALLY UNSTABLE ONE MINUTE HIS FINE THEN HIS ANGRY FOR NO REASON

5. Unstable... "He is liable to go-off at any time" meaning he typically blows up easily. g-day!

6. Upsets very easily. Blows his stack. Yells, screams, throws a tantrum. Is capable of physical and/or mental abuse with little provocation. Very appealing sort of guy to girls with low self asteam.

7. it comes from the 1700 s when cannons were the only protection you had from piracy on board ship. so they were essential. however cannons had to be roped on to the deck of the ship during bad weather. if one broke loose it would roll about in every direction and due to its weight!smash the ship to pieces. SO! useful in its self. but destructive if not tied down. so if some one is all over the place and doesn't know what they are supposed to be doing!! IE! in the work place etc. they are regarded as a loose cannon. and NO! women don't avoid these kind of men. they are generally quite attracted to them.

For you to ask if women generally avoid this type of man, makes we wonder if you feel that you are "a loose cannon", or maybe that someone has suggested you are; I hope not! It's not only men that can fall into this category; women are just as liable - it's even been suggested that pre-menstrual/menopausal females can become "loose cannons", and as much as I'd like to discredit such suggestions, unfortunately, I cannot. Why? Ask my partner! Luckily for myself, and him, my "menopause" only lasted for about 6 months, but I didn't even like me very much at times; I made his life hell! The poor so-and-so couldn't do anything right, no matter what. "Loose Cannon" was an understatement. As to avoiding these types of men, I would personally do my utmost to have as little contact as possible with any person that I knew ALWAYS to be volatile. Stress, pain, grief (and hormones!) etc., can cause the most mild-tempered of people to become "loose cannons", and in those circumstances, I wouldn't let that be an excuse for them to be continuously abusive to me, but I wouldn't avoid them either.

12. it means he could loose his temper at anytime over nothing... his temper explodes, and yes girls tend to avoid them.

13. if a guy is a loose cannon, that usually means he is very spontaneous, and you never really know whats going on with him. many women would most likely stay away from guys like that, but i know that i am mostly fond of guys like like, i always like suprises :]
