My work place deals with a huge promotion yearly for about 6 months of the year. Durring this time, we are constantly short staffed (even though we have been doing the same promo for years, management doesnt get it) and I wind up working 11 hours plus just trying to keep up with my job. Its too much and even with a student assistant I still wind up being hugely behind (by a month or 3000 files). I have spoken with all levels of management to get additional help because who has the time to work 12 hour days 7 days a week for 6 months of the year? I'm very lucky at this point that I dont have children, however I see them in the near future. The money is great and the benifits are great as well, its a good environment to work in. But how do I break the news that I refuse to work 12 hour days, 5-7 days a week for half the year and still have a job left when Im done?

1. The family and refreshing time is nearly obsolete. Dollar signs replace pupils and color. Most American buisnessmen have long lost the respect for family and rest. The more you do the more they make. Without you they can't make big investments for THIER families, buy boats, new cars, nice homes, stash cash and have the best of everything. You are giving your best to a company that will suck you dry. My husband worked like you do for a lot of years and our family suffered. Way to many dinners with out Dad,,,,no,,,,,usually none. Rest? What rest. Come in late, go out early. Guess what his big bonus was for giving his best to them. Bad health and begging for disability since his heart attack last May. Think about it.
