IS it wrong for a father to tell his son he doesn't have confidence in himself?

my dad said this to me a week or so ago and its just really disappointing. he is a very busy man but he still never listens to anything I say. I'll tell him something 4 times on the phone until he understands and he used to make fun of me in front of family to feel better about himself. what a disappointment's of a father. when I become a father I promise myself I will never be like him. even with I'm working 70 hours a week I'll still listen and pay attention to my kids,

1. I'm so sorry dear..I have a rotten, mean old nasty father so I can understand how you feel. If you dont have any confidence, its because his mean as$ didnt support you enough emotionally to develop confidence in the first place..Dear, realize that no matter what he says, God is your real Father--and He loves you and will make you strong.

2. My father has insulted, beaten and given me a low self esteem my whole life.Im an adult now and I rarely see him because everytime I do he puts me down.He used to tell me I was pretty, then hed say Pretty ugly! Which is not true at all.And I knew that but it still hurt because it came from my father. He was an alcoholic. My fathers too busy insulting me to listen to anything I say so I have cut him out of my life. Now hes missing me.Some men think they have to behave that way because its "macho" and that only women compliment and listen. So it doesnt mean they dont love us its just that they expect more from us because they never did anything with their lives and are dissapointed when they see us not doing more with ours.

3. Sorry to hear. Hope you do better with your kids when you get them. A father should inspire his kids with confidence among other desires.
