Im wondering how far in advance I should take my ring in to get the wedding band put on that attaches to it.
Answers:
1. never got 1
2. ive never heard of that
3. Most jewelers will take about 2 weeks to solder your rings together. So you would want to give yourself that much time. Tell the jeweler that it is for your wedding and they may be able to accomadate you faster. I would try and find a locally owned jeweler and not a chain store as it will be quicker to have it soldered at a store that does the work "in house". Keep in mind that a lot of people believe that it is bad luck to wear your wedding band before the wedding. I personally had mine soldered after the wedding. I used only the band during the ceremony and added my engagement ring on after the ceremony was over (I wore my engagement ring on my other hand during the ceremony).
4. I think most have it done after the ceremony, just in case it is not done in time. I do not know for sure because mine intertwines, so I did not have to have it soldered.
5. It depends.....if the jewelry store has it in stock then all they would have to do is size it and, if you want, have it soldered together. This should usually take a week or so. If it is a custom piece that they would have to order from places like Scott Kay or Tacori, etc. it can take up to 4 weeks. If you already have the band they should be able to solder it on for you, if you want it soldered, within one week. Remember, you are the customer and they have to accomodate you so if you need it sooner, they should be able to do it.
