Do u think chatting online w/ the opposite sex is cheating? W/ knowing your never going to meet this person, and never going to speak to them on the phone? By chatting I mean in a sexual way? I guess u are more or less flirting w/ the person on the other end. Don't be quick to say I am doing it cuz I'm not!! But I know someone that does and this person is married they have a very good marriage there are no problems in the marriage but they just love to chat chat chat online...
Whats your opinion on it? I will not specify male or female as people tend to become a little more judgemental that way!
Answers:
1. 3 hours ago James R you are a sick man but completely understandable for a man that can't get laid.
2. 3 hours ago No seriously people it is NOT me...
3. 2 hours ago Oh I'm male, and its not happening in my relationship
4. well read this article...its very similar to your situation, im sure it could help figure things out for you

5. why would someone want to chat like tat with strangers online...if u r married, why cant u chat with ur spouse tat way then...
6. In my opinion if they honestly believe that they will not ever meet this person then whats the big deal...Now if u think theres a chance or slightest bit of a possibility then it can obviously lead to cheating ...I believe cheating is a man putting his u know where it is a no no if its not the wifes or vice versa!! Ya know what I mean... otherwise I see no big deal w/ it...
7. cheating your mind but physically not a cheat... so it is 50/50 ... your body goes into a state of being aroused by another person.... next time you see a lady on the road you can actually rip her of her clothes with your eyes... now is that cheating
8. Opinions vary on this... it is not cheating in the classical sense though... some like to call it an emotional affair... Give me a break....while it really is not cheating in a legal sense...(one recognized in a divorce court) it is certainly frowned upon and can be considered alienation of affection.... Bottom line is no it is not cheating but it is also not a good idea either
9. Even if the person never meets the one they are chatting with, it is still an emotional affair. I would feel hurt if I knew that my spouse had to go elsewhere for excitement. Porn is one thing because you aren't interacting with anyone but if they are going behind their spouse's back and talking to a stranger about sex it's deceitful.
10. im not going to be judgemental...but..i dont think that is cheating..not at all..Cheating is only when you kiss or love that other person and having sex with them..But i only think that is flirting...You are really not cheating....dont worry...
11. Well my reply would be "yes". A happy man/ woman won't cheat, and if they have such a good marriage then this wouldn't be happening. There are hidden troubles that you are not seeing. There just has to be.
When you are happily married "you are forsaking all others" and flirting with another person is not forsaking all others, whether you are on line or not. You never know what the person on the other side of the computer is thinking. and does the other person being spoken to know that your friend is married? If so then they need to not be flirty, and respect that someone is married, and that means they are off limits. This is only my personal opinion though. I could be wrong.
12. This is a tough one.. An emotional affair is more when they connect intellectualy; and this is neither since you're never going to meet that person and you're not connecting intellectually. It's like watching porn online.. It's not real.. But, the situtation does lend to cheating if you start talking about "real" life.. I think it's kinda risky if done a lot.
13. This is bad news.
14. I dont exactly think its cheating, except for the sexual language. People flirt, they sometimes need someone to chat with on the internet to share their feelings to. But just make sure that you spend more time in your marriage, then you do online chatting.
15. I do think there is such a thing as psychological cheating--where the person online can become a surrogate for telling feelings and emotions that the spouse may or may not be privvy to. IT's dangerous territory--even in the best of marriages. And it is a grey matter, unfortunately. Not easily categorized.
That's my opinion.-J.

16. I think at first that it could be Innocent but after a while if they keep chatting with the same person it could become more then that. The bible says that if a man looks upon a woman with lust in his heart then he has already committed the sin against himself. I guess it is what you may feel inside when you are doing this chatting. If you get aroused by another person sexually then I think it is terribly wrong. The only person that should arouse you sexually is your husband or wife and if someone else does this then you are committing a sin against yourself and your loved one because you are not being true to only them.
17. Chatting on the internet can and usually does lead to cheating. Now technology is more sophisticated with the pictures that it is easy to find someone in your town and meet up with them in person. So my answer would be yes, it is cheating. What is going to stop your curiousity unless the person is thousands of miles away? I know people that even travel to meet the person they have been chatting with on the internet.
18. In my opinion, cheating is anything you wouldn't do if your significant other were there watching.
If this person's spouse is okay with a little flirting online, or anything of that nature, then I see no problem.
But if they're doing it behind their spouse's back, or if they know their spouse would get mad at these actions but they choose to do it anyways, then it's cheating.
Cheating to one person, may not be cheating to another.
My definition of cheating, may be the complete opposite of this person's spouse.
19. Is cheating like sneaking behind your spouses back with someone else in a promiscuous type way? Does the spouse know??
I say its cheating if he/she has to sneak to do it because its a dishonest act with another person of the opposite sex he/she is attracted to and responded to the attraction in a material way.
I say he/she isn't cheating if their spouse knows and has no problem with it because then its agreed and honestly done.
I say he/she is also making a mistake if he/she is risking a marriage there are no previous problems with. (if in fact the spouse doesn't know).
PS I dont personally see chatting on here as much different than on the phone or in person. Its still the same two people just a different form of the same communication.
Ok, so this isn't you, but can we discuss you next?? You don't have to tell us if your male or female either!! J/K lol
20. It looks like you really opened Pandora's box here.
"Cheating" is so abstract. It's a behavior, not an action. Does the spouse know?
If not, they're hiding something and that could be considered cheating.
In my eyes cheating is more about the dishonesty and betrayal of trust rather than any physical act. What you've described is really in interactive form of mutual masturbation and in some cases CAN lead to cheating.
21. My aunt and uncle married for 20 years just got divorced because their innocent chatting went to the next level. Any conversation whether it be online, or in person that you should only have with your spouse is cheating, if you feel you need to hide the conversation from your spouse its cheating, i think that instead of being on line with other people they need to start"chatting"....
22. It all depends on what type of marriage they have.
23. If this is causing your friend to modify his attentions to his wife in any way or if he is infatuated in any way or form with the chatters then it is cheating. It is cheating his wife of the joys and attention she deserves. The other person will notice after awhile. And I don't see how he wasn't getting some charge out of it or he wouldn't be doing it. Flirting leads to deeper emotional pit falls that involve emotional cheating and 'cheating is cheating' whether with your mind or your body. Read the bible- all forms of day dreaming about anyone but your spouse is cheating and not right. What he is doing will lead to physical cheating big time if not stopped. The wedge that grows between husband and wife in this situation will only grow wider with time. He should stop it before some desperate woman gets her hooks in him and real serious confusion sets in. Eventually it will become like a game of hide and seed and the chance of getting caught will add to the thrill and make it more thrilling. What is wrong with people anyhow? Doesn't anyone take marriage serious anymore?? It is supposed to be between 2 people and it is supposed to be kept in a state of chaste and sacred emotions and actions between husband and wife only and for always. Both people have to take it all serious or it means nothing & won't work if one cheats even if the other doesn't know it at first! Because the truth will come out eventually. For some it will be too late. The women who chat/flirt with married men are not worth one's time and they lie and lie to get attention. They are looking for thrills themselves. Another knotch on their belt- so to speak. Why mess up a marriage for that? It is a sin to lust after others when married.
