I would like to instill some traditions in my family so I would like any suggestions you might have. I have an 11 & 14 year old. What traditions did you like while growing up?

1. Christmas was always a HUGE deal in our household growing up. We were woken early by our excitable mother, gathered around the tree with our eyes hardly open and unwrapped copious amounts of presents.
Lunch was a major event with relatives coming from near & far and after a big banquet of cold meats & salads (it's bloody hot in Australia in December) we would all gather around a paper mache "Christmas Koala" which held joke presents. There was at least one for every member of the family - a joke present to remind them of something stupid or funny they did during the year. It was so much fun to recall all the stories as people opened their presents and laughed at what they were reminded of.
That's a tradition I hope to carry on in my own family once my children are old enough.
