Im planning a small wedding in Metro Boston and have a small budget. Need advice on venues!?

I am inviting 30-40 guests and have $4k to use. Ive noticed that places have banquet dinner prices and wedding prices. Do I have to tell them its a wedding? Why should I pay 100% more for the same thing? I am all about cutting costs on center pieces, favors, personalized napkins, and all that good stuff. My priorities are open bar, good food and music. I appreciate any and all help! *Can be anywhere in Massachusetts*

Answers:

1. I would have it at a restaurant that has a private room. Limit bar choices to three cocktail choices. This will cut down on your liquor expense. Buy flowers from a wholesaler and have someone you trust make arrangements for your tables. Choose one great entree that all your guests would enjoy. If necessary expand it to 2. Have cold appetizers. Negotiate the price of your cake. Try a culinary school for a good price. Choose your priorities and spend your money on the things that will make you and your groom happy.

2. Rent a community hall. Just call it a get together! Have the brief ceremony! At the front of the hall have the ceremony! Guests remain standing. Form a receiving line so that everyone can congratulate you! Have best man make introductions and announcements. Have chairs for aged ones only! Open the bar! Begin with soft music. Pass around some finger food! You will probably have money for a caterer! Enjoy your wedding! Pass around finger food! Make an exit! Close the bar!
